On the evening of January 29, 2005, Tricia Goken and Denis Tri enjoyed a wonderful dinner together with friends at a restaurant in Leonardtown. By the conclusion of dinner, the weather outside had turned icy and rainy which had caused some road surfaces to cover over with black ice. Their car hit a patch of the black ice and crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic.
Trish and Denis were planning to marry this year and were remodeling a home in Solomons, when their lives were tragically cut short in the fatal accident in Hollywood.
In memory of Tricia and Denis, a memorial foundation has been established in their name. The mission of the organization is to provide scholarship awards to students who demonstrate financial need, embody the leadership qualities, good citizenship, academic achievement and love for life that Denis and Trish displayed throughout their academic careers, professional lives and social interactions.
