HUNTINGTOWN, Md. – On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, junior and senior classes from Huntingtown High School attended a “mock crash” scenario depicting distracted and impaired driving to help educate young drivers on the dangers and consequences of doing so.

Scenario depicted by Marty Sealey:
HHS administration direct request. Students decide to leave school for lunch without approval. While waiting in the school parking lot for a friend, the driver consumes cannabis. They get lunch at Chick-fil-A but are running late. The driver is slow to react to a yellow light change ahead and does not stop when it turns red. A 2005 Nissan Altima was sitting on Cox Road and was proceeding on the green light, crossing over to Old Town Road, and was hit by the student.
Tom Komenda plays 911 call:
911 call is made by another driver who witnesses the crash while traveling southbound on 4, makes the call but does not stop to help – does not feel safe getting out of the vehicle.
Students start to call out and cry, law enforcement arrives, and fire and EMS respond, efforts include extricating and removing the deceased (white car) driver and treating passengers as dictated below.

Were students provided a link to this training so they could watch it on their iPhones? I doubt they retained anything without that training resource.
This is an important exercise to “drive ” home the point .Yet their are some in this age group that laugh and ” Mock ” others whom have killed themselves or others while driving reckless or carelessly. Then others will observe the exercise and say to themselves this would never happen to me , because of me or too me . Yet go out and drive like idiots …DARWIN WAS ON TARGET ..
