Lexington Park, MD – Currently seeking re-election to the Maryland House of Delegates in District 29A is the incumbent Matt Morgan. The Republican candidate has seen a few ups and downs through his tenure surrounding the issue of education in Southern Maryland.
One major topic of debate has been keeping the third expansion building at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center on track for construction. Over the last legislative session, the General Assembly saw a year of delay pushing back any progress made towards expediting the project. Morgan has made it clear that expansion of higher education in Southern Maryland is a priority and is crucial to the diversification of the local economy.
“I’m confident that the projects will be back on track,” Morgan commented. “The first year that I was in the General Assembly we actually moved it ahead one year, so it being delayed I guess is back to its normal timeline.”
Additionally, Morgan has emphasized how important school safety is to him and to most people across the country. Having a child of his own in the public school system, he understands that there is still work to be done on the state level to enhance the safety and well-being of every student.
Recently, Morgan visited the offices and studio of TheBayNet.com to talk about his re-election campaign. His plan to keep the expansion of the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center on track and to continue fighting for funding for school safety is discussed in the video.
