LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park woman is facing domestic assault charges in St. Mary’s County after a volatile dispute with her partner turned violent inside a shared residence on Cabot Place, leaving multiple individuals injured and a trail of conflicting statements.
According to charging documents, deputies responded to the residence on May 17, 2025, for a reported domestic violence incident involving 28-year-old Julia Renee Foster. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Foster exiting the home with visible injuries, including a bloody mouth and a missing tooth. She alleged she had been assaulted by two individuals inside the residence after confronting them about smoking controlled substances. Foster claimed the situation escalated after she was told to “mind her own business,” at which point the subjects allegedly punched and kicked her in the head and face.
However, a different version of events was provided by one of the individuals Foster accused. That person stated she and Foster were in a relationship, and that Foster had misinterpreted a conversation about Mother’s Day, leading to an argument. According to the statement, Foster briefly left the home but returned and struck her in the head with a cellphone. The woman alleged she attempted to restrain Foster by pinning her to the floor to deescalate the fight. Foster allegedly responded by biting her in the stomach.
A second witness told deputies he heard the couple fighting but declined to identify the aggressor, citing concerns about his new employment. He noted that the two had separated during the altercation and that Foster had slammed the door on her way out before re-entering and continuing the confrontation.
A third individual reported that he tried to intervene after hearing the yelling. He confirmed that both women had sustained visible injuries: one had facial bruising and blood around the mouth; the other had a large bruise on her forehead, neck scratches, and a bite mark on her stomach.
Deputies determined the incident constituted domestic assault based on observed injuries, the sequence of events, and witness accounts.
Foster was arrested on the scene and transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Following her release, she was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and charged with second-degree assault.
Under Maryland law, second-degree assault is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $2,500.
Foster appeared before Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser for a bond review on May 19 and was ordered held without bond. She is represented by the Office of the Public Defender. Her trial is scheduled for July 8, 2025, in District Court.
The May arrest is not Foster’s only pending matter. She also faces charges in a separate assault case from December 2024 involving a physical altercation with a family member. That case remains active and is scheduled to be heard alongside the current charges this July.
