Sarah and Mike Patterson help cut the ribbon as current KCA Administrator Kevin Frye (r) looks on.
Callaway, MD — More than 500 people attended the Aug. 23 ribbon cutting and dedication of the new high school wing at Kings Christian Academy in Callaway. Among those at the event was actor and author T.C. Stallings, who signed books at the ribbon cutting and then was the guest speaker that evening for a dinner and book signing.
The school started more than 30 years ago in Lexington Park. Its first administrator Sarah Patterson and her husband Mike joined current administrator Kevin Frye for the ribbon cutting. George Jarboe, whose family owned the land in Callaway on which the school now sits, offered a prayer for the occasion.
At the book signing, Stallings told The BayNet that with the backing and creativity of the Kendricks brothers (writers and producers) he expected the โWar Roomโ to be a success. But he never imagined that the Christian-themed movie would rocket to Number One in its second week of distribution. Stallings played the father of the financially-strapped family portrayed in the movie.
Stallings recently released a book called โPursuit,โ which is described as โ14 days of 14 Scriptures with 14 inspirational devotions, combined with real-life examples of how to apply each pursuit principle.โ Stallings told The BayNet that the book tells his life story interwoven with those principles. โThrough prayer I felt in was Godโs purpose for my life,โ he said of the book.
After the ribbon cutting attendees lined up to purchase copies of the book and get the author to personally sign them. He took time to speak to each and every person.
He also did the same after the dinner which also featured local magician Reggie Rice.
The schoolโs new wing has several high school classrooms and gives the growing school some additional breathing room. โThis is really a new beginning for Kingโs Christian Academy,โ Administrator Frye said at the ribbon cutting.
