Assault 2nd Degree โ€“ On Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 3:40pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher responded to the 22000 block of Iverson Drive in Great Mills for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 42, of Great Mills who advised she was originally involved in a verbal altercation with a female juvenile when she was assaulted after advising she was contacting the police. Based on information provided by both the complainant and suspect, as well as evidence observed while on the scene, TFC Pitcher placed a female juvenile, 15, of Great Mills under arrest for Second Degree Assault. The juvenile was released to a guardian on the scene pending further action by Juvenile Services. (1182004124)

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Drug Arrest โ€“ On Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 6:59pm, TFC M. J. Pitcher initiated a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 234 in Leonardtown on a Toyota Camry for a traffic violation.

Upon making contact with the operator, William Edward Burch, 34, of Loveville, TFC Pitcher observed various indicators of deceptive behavior by Mr. Burch. A Standardized Field Sobriety Test was performed by Mr. Burch, which he was unsuccessful in completing and subsequently arrested for DUI/DWI. A secondary search of Mr. Burchโ€™s person while at the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for DUI processing revealed that Mr. Burch was in possession of CDS โ€“ Not Marijuana. Mr. Burch completed processing for DUI and was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly. Mr. Burch was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Public Intoxication โ€“ On Friday, April 29, 2011 at 7:55pm, Tpr. S. M. Ditoto responded to the area of Pegg Road and Pacific Drive for reports of a male subject lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, Tpr. Ditoto made contact with an off-duty Trooper that advised he observed the male subject walking in traffic and vehicles taking evasive action to avoid striking the subject. Tpr. Ditoto made contact with the subject, identified as Steven Wayne Carter, 52, of No Fixed Address, and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
