Prince Frederick, MD – The below incidents, investigations, and arrests are, in part, demonstrative of the Prince Frederick Barrack’s effort to ensure that Calvert County is a safe place to live, work, and visit. 

Traffic Stop / Possession of Heroin – On 5/13/2020, Trooper Kelly conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in the area of South View Drive, Huntingtown, for traffic violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper Kelly observed a small baggie containing a white powdery substance in plain view. Trooper Kelly placed the driver in custody. The driver was identified as Jonas Robert Heinonen (04/18/1990), and was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle. While in the back of the patrol vehicle, Trooper Kelly and Trooper First Class Rutkoski noticed Heinonen was moving something around in his mouth. After failing to comply with verbal orders to open his mouth, Troopers had to remove Heinonen from the vehicle and utilize pressure points to get Heinonen to comply. Three more baggies of suspected heroin were removed from Heinonen’s mouth. When asked if he consumed any of the suspect heroin, Heinonen refused to answer. As a precautionary measure, Heinonen was transported to the Hospital prior to going to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly. All CDS were packaged and processed at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

Traffic Stop / CDS – Not Marijuana – On 05/15/2020, Trooper First Class Costello and Trooper Fraser conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in the area of Parran Road, St. Leonard, for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Zachary James Krenick (08/31/1993) and the passenger was identified as Jacob Sbeitan (04/29/1983). A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and CDS – not marijuana was located. Both Krenick and Sbeitan were placed in custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where they were charged accordingly. All CDS were packaged and processed at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

CDS – Not Marijuana – On 5/15/2020, Trooper First Class Stull responded to the area of Sandy Wash Circle and Big Sandy Run Road, Lusby, to make contact with Trooper Ruggles from the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. Once on scene, Trooper First Class Stull made contact with Salli Ann Barats (08/29/1965), who stated that she had a “crack pipe” in her possession. The pipe was confiscated and Barats was charged on a Criminal Summons and released from the scene. ALl CDS were processed and packaged at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

Traffic Stop / Warrant Service – On 05/16/2020, Trooper First Class Marsch conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in the area of Lyons Creek Road, Dunkirk, for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Emmanuel L. Pressley (08/11/1968), who was also showing an active warrant (FTA – Driving Without a License). Pressley was placed in custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where the warrant was served without incident.

Traffic Stop / Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Ammunition – On 05/16/2020, Trooper White conducted a traffic stop on Route 4 in the area of CHaneyville Road, Owings, for traffic violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper White noticed the smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver was identified as Christopher Dale Hiner (07/12/1991), and a probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle. The search revealed marijuana more than ten grams as well as a ballistic vest and over seven hundred rounds of ammunition. An MGUN check was conducted and was shown that Hiner is prohibited from possessing the ballistic vest and ammunition. Hiner was placed in custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was charged accordingly. All marijuana, ammunition, and the ballistic vest were taken to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack for processing and packaging.
