
On February 22, 2026, Myrtle Mae Quade, 94, of Hughesville, MD, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Myrtle was born in Royal Retreat, VA, on May 21, 1931, to the late James and Zear Havens.
She was blessed with three children: Darlene Straub (Brian), Alfrey Martin (Judy), and James Martin, who predeceased his mother.
Myrtle was renowned for her exceptional catering, particularly her famous crab imperial. She provided catering services for various events, such as weddings and family gatherings. Additionally, she owned Village Service Center in Hughesville, MD, where she treated every customer like family. Myrtle cherished every opportunity to go crabbing and enjoy time on the water. She also had a deep affection for iris flowers.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished husband James Quade, her son, and her siblings: Louise Morris, Della Martin, Pauline Bowles, Edna Ostrom, and Eugene Havens, along with her grandchildren Emily Straub and Brian Martin. She is survived by her children and her siblings, Evelyn Wood and Ernest Havens. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandchildren: Sarah Straub (Tim OโNeil), Ryan Straub, Jacob Straub, Sharon Martin, Christina Martin, and Jeremy Martin (Courtney), along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. As well as close friend Esther Harvey.
On Monday, March 2, 2026, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the service beginning at noon at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will follow after the service at St. Maryโs Catholic Church Cemetery, Bryantown, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617.
