SOLOMONS, Md. — An evening at a Solomons Island waterfront restaurant ended in chaos, police intervention and an arrest for a Lexington Park woman who allegedly stripped in public, urinated on herself and assaulted emergency personnel attempting to help.
Court documents reveal that 45-year-old Marika Shontell Driggers was taken into custody on July 9, 2025, after deputies responded to a call from Coast 2 Coast Seafood Bar & Grill in Solomons. Employees and patrons had alerted law enforcement to a woman inside the establishment who was behaving erratically, exposing herself and becoming combative.
According to officials, the initial eyewitness reports described the woman as having urinated on herself and actively removing her clothing inside the restaurant. Deputies arrived to find Driggers seated in the lobby wearing only a shirt and coat — without pants, underwear or shoes. Employees informed deputies that they had no intention of pressing indecent exposure charges but wanted her removed from the property.
Attempts to persuade Driggers to leave peacefully were unsuccessful. Deputies noted that she was uncooperative and belligerent. Restaurant staff recounted that she had been drinking wine and became disruptive after two men who had tried to calm her left the premises. Witnesses described her throwing her purse, disrobing and screaming the name “Ronald” before hurling chairs.
One employee who tried to guide her to safety was shoved in the chest after being slapped on the arm. The employee declined to pursue assault charges but confirmed the physical encounter to deputies. As deputies tried to assist her in redressing and arranging alternative lodging, Driggers refused aid and grew increasingly volatile.
She allegedly directed profane outbursts at law enforcement, refused repeated instructions to leave and was eventually arrested for trespassing and disorderly conduct. Following her arrest, she requested medical assistance but declined to specify the reason.
While waiting for an ambulance, Driggers allegedly continued to yell obscenities and, at one point, told deputies to kill her because she “wasn’t going to stop.” When EMS arrived, she is accused of kicking one responder in the stomach and making threats to kill everyone present. She also refused to allow EMTs to check her vitals.
As deputies prepared to transport her to the Calvert County Detention Center, Driggers allegedly bit a sergeant attempting to secure her seatbelt. The sergeant was able to avoid injury, and the transport was completed without further incident.
Driggers, a resident of Mary Margaret Court in Lexington Park, now faces four misdemeanor charges: second-degree assault (two counts), trespassing on private property and disorderly conduct. Each second-degree assault charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $2,500 fine. Disorderly conduct and trespassing are also misdemeanor offenses punishable by up to 60 days and 90 days in jail, respectively, with applicable fines.
Driggers was released on her own recognizance the following day. Her trial is scheduled for Aug. 11, 2025, in Calvert County District Court.
