The long-awaited project to replace the Nanjemoy Community Center floor is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 5. Anticipated completion for this major construction project is expected mid to late September. To ensure the safety of participants, all Nanjemoy Community Center programs will be closed to the general public throughout the renovation period.
Nanjemoy Senior Center programs will temporarily relocate to First Baptist Church (FBC) Welcome, located at 6735 Port Tobacco Road in Welcome, beginning in July. Senior Center hours will be Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. โ 2 p.m. Two intergenerational programs โ”Childrenโs Story Hour” held on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and “Letโs Move” held on Thursdays at 10 a.m.โwill also be offered at FBC Welcome. The Greater Baden Health Clinic, which occupies space within the Nanjemoy Community Center building, will remain open during their regularly scheduled operating hours, as there is a separate, secure entrance to the clinic. The Department of Community Services is grateful for this public-private partnership and graciously thanks FBC Welcome for their hospitality, support, and use of shared space to accommodate Senior Center programs during this renovation. Seniors who need transportation to FBC Welcome are encouraged to contact Nanjemoy Senior Center staff for assistance, or may contact the Department of Community Services, Transportation and Community Programs Division, at 301-934-9305 to request further information about transportation and service options.

Plans are underway for a grand re-opening event this fall to welcome all members of the community back to the renovated Nanjemoy Community Center. More information on the grand re-opening will be announced at a later date.
