The St. Mary’s County Department of Economic Development (DED) is pleased to announce that Scott Willis was recently hired as the Department’s Economic Development Specialist. Mr. Willis has a deep and extensive banking background and economic development experience throughout the Baltimore – Washington Metropolitan Region. He earned a dual masters’ degree in Urban and Regional Planning (Economic Development) and Public Affairs (Urban Studies) from the State University of New York at the Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning and has completed significant research on the subject of workforce development. His duties for DED will focus on business retention, expansion and financing.
“We’re very pleased that Scott joined our team,” stated Chris Kaselemis, director, DED. “Scott has hit the ground running and will play an important part in our long-term strategy to diversify the local economy.”
DED has another position to fill in its Business Development Division and expects to announce a second new hire in June. The Department is composed of three divisions including Agriculture and Seafood, Tourism and Business Development.
