OWINGS, Md. — The spotlight continues to shine on Lucia Siracusano, senior quarterback for Northern High School’s varsity girls flag football team, as she earns one of the highest honors in the sport: AFC finalist for the 2025 Maxwell Football Club Girls National Flag Football Player of the Year Award.
Siracusano was nominated by the Baltimore Ravens for the Maxwell award earlier this fall and officially named a finalist this month. She is among a select group of players from across the U.S. who will be recognized at the 89th Maxwell Awards Gala, taking place March 14, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Working in partnership with NFL clubs throughout the fall, nominees were submitted by each team and evaluated by a national selection panel of coaches and leaders in girls’ and women’s sports. Finalists include representatives from the Ravens, Bengals, Raiders, Broncos, Panthers, 49ers, Giants, and Eagles.
“Congratulations to Lucia Siracusano from Northern HS in Owings, MD (Calvert County) on representing the @Ravens as one of eight finalists for the 2025 Girls National Flag Football Player of the Year Award,” the Ravens shared on social media.

Flag football fans across Southern Maryland have watched Siracusano lead the charge as Northern launched its first-ever girls varsity flag football program this fall — opening the season with commanding shutout victories against La Plata and Lackey.
On Dec. 23, the Maxwell Football Club officially named her one of eight national finalists for its 2nd Annual Girls National Flag Football Player of the Year Award, honoring student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding performance, academic excellence, and community leadership. The award will be presented at the 89th Maxwell Awards Gala on March 14, 2026, at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia.

“The opportunity to continue the Maxwell Club’s mission of promoting all aspects of football and amplifying the amazing efforts of young women who are pioneering the game of flag football is a great honor,” said Mark Wolpert, executive director of the Maxwell Football Club, in a press release. “The support of the National Football League is a huge driver for the growth of this game at all levels, and the Maxwell Football Club is excited to play a part in recognizing excellence both on and off the football field for these amazing athletes.”
Siracusano represents the Baltimore Ravens as the AFC nominee, alongside:
- Evie Schoolfield (Cincinnati Bengals)
- Ariana Akey (Denver Broncos)
- Akemi Higa (Las Vegas Raiders)
NFC finalists include:
- Isabella “Izzy” Sholar (Carolina Panthers)
- Marin Lnenicka (San Francisco 49ers)
- Samantha Heyman (New York Giants)
- Keira Quinn (Philadelphia Eagles)
In a senior spotlight shared by @nhsgirlsflagfb, Siracusano reflected on her journey: she’s been playing flag football for 11 years, plans to major in sports medicine or marketing, and listed her favorite team memory as “running in the winning touchdown against Calvert.”
Her parents said the journey has been remarkable.
“We’re thrilled and grateful,” they shared. “Lucia gave everything she had this season — mentally, physically, and emotionally — and it’s a great feeling to see that effort recognized by the community and the sport she loves.”
