UPDATE Dec. 19 at 1:15 p.m: TBN just received the official police report on the bus accident which sawย nine children and the bus driver taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries:

POLICE REPORT: On Dec.18, at approximately 7:02 a.m., a St. Maryโ€™s County Public school bus operated by James Timothy Blount, 63 of Lexington Park, was involved in a motor vehicle collision.ย  The accident occurred on Park Hall Road west of Three Notch Road in Park Hall.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Blount lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the right shoulder striking a street sign and telephone pole.

Thirty-four students, ages 11 to 14, were aboard the bus at the time of the accident.ย  Nineย students were transported to St. Maryโ€™s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.ย The bus driver was also transported to St. Maryโ€™s Hospital.

Theย investigation is continuing and charges may be pending.ย

UPDATE 7:53 a.m. – TBN’s reporter on the scene states that ten students and the bus driver are being transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in multiple ambulances. The bus was delivering children to Spring Ridge Middle School. The rest of the students are being transported on another bus to Spring Ridge MS where parents may pick them up if they choose.

Spring Ridge MS Principal and Vice Principal are on the scene. SMECO workers are there to correct the electric situation. The scene is clearing and the bus has been removed from the scene.

All injuries are reported to be minor.

UPDATE: From TBN’s reporter on the scene: Bus 629 was on Park Hall Road, heading toward Route 235 and struck a utility pole. There were approximately 30 students aboard the bus. The bus was covered with live electric lines.

ย At this time all are out of the bus and there appears to be only minor injuries to a few students. All are ambulatory.
