PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — O’Gannigan’s Pub, located at 98 Solomons Island Road S., Prince Frederick, will close at the end of April.

The news was first announced on the pub’s Instagram, with a note about finishing “the last month of OGs” with some fun. The pub also advised that their Facebook and possibly other accounts were recently hacked, and advised followers not to get drawn into negativity online. An employee working at the restaurant confirmed the closure.

O’Gannigan’s is a popular spot in Prince Frederick, known for its regular events, karaoke nights, and live musical acts. The pub serves traditional Irish food and is considered a local staple for both families and nightlife.

O’Gannigan’s owner Cecelia Shade said the closure stems from “behind the scenes” disagreements with a business partner. She said that she and her family decided it was time to move on.

“We came into this with a positive vibe and a lot of excitement,” Shade said during a phone interview with The BayNet. “So I don’t want to dwell on negativity. We poured a lot of love into this. We have 15 days left, and we want to go out on a high note.”

Shade encouraged everyone to come out to the events and parties scheduled for the next couple of weeks, and said the pub will be open for it’s regular hours until the 30th.

The pub opened in 2019 and set to work building a dedicated following and trying to appeal to restaurant-goers of all ages. Shade and her husband took over as owners in 2023. Prince Frederick has other bar-and-grille-type restaurants, but no other dedicated Irish pubs to fill the gap O’Gannigan’s will leave behind.

Until the closure, the pub is hoping to rally community support and go out in style. O’Gannigan’s is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
