Bowie, MD – Maryland State Police are investigating a head-on collision in which one person died Monday evening, Nov. 12, in Prince George’s County.
Emergency personnel pronounced the driver of a black Toyota Camry, deceased after their vehicle crashed head-on with another vehicle. The victim’s identity is being withheld, pending next of kin notification.
The driver of the gray Ford pickup truck is identified as Frederick Corder, 65, of Bowie, MD. The passenger of the Ford is identified as Marilyn Corder, 64, of Bowie, MD. Both were transported to UM Prince George’s Hospital Center.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m. today, Maryland State Police received calls from motorists, reporting a crash involving a black Toyota Camry and a gray Ford pickup truck on eastbound Central Avenue, west of Sturbridge Lane in Bowie, MD. Troopers from Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack were immediately dispatched to the location.
The preliminary investigation indicates according to witnesses that the victim was driving westbound on Central Avenue, west of Sturbridge Lane. The victim for unknown reasons crossed the solid double yellow lines and entered into the eastbound lanes of traffic, directly into the travel path of a gray Ford pickup truck, striking the Ford head-on.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded to investigate the cause of the crash. Officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to assist along with Prince George’s County EMS personnel. State Highway Administration personnel responded and assisted with the lane closure. Due to the incident, the roadway is still closed at the time of this writing.
