Police Investigate Suspicious Package in Lexington Park

Authorities in St. Mary’s County are investigating a suspicious package in Lexington Park.

A citizen in the area of Weeping Willow Lane had called in to the Sheriff’s Office that a suspicious item had arrived in the mail Jan. 10.  Police along with a K-9 arrived on the scene around 9 p.m. and the dog “alerted” officers to the suspicious item.

The Bomb Squad was called out and the package was x-rayed on the scene with a portable x-ray machine.  The Bomb Squad opened the item and determined the package was not an explosive.

The incident remains under investigation.
