At 7 p.m. March 28, Deputy First Class Angela Muller will be the guest speaker at Margaret Brent Middle School’s PTA meeting. Dfc. Muller will give a presentation on Cyber Bullying.
Cyber bullying is a growing phenomenon, which involves the use of computer technology to deliberately and repeatedly conduct hostile behavior towards another individual. Cyberbullying occurs when a child is bullied, harassed, humiliated, threatened, or targeted in someway by another child through the use of internet or cell phone technology.
Deputy Muller’s presentation is designed to provide parents with indicators, which may identify, their child as victim or the agressor of cyber bullying. Deputy Muller will identify the top four network sites used by St. Mary’s County youth and provide basic information to the parents on how to navigate through those sites to insure internet safety.
Additionally, Dfc. Muller will educate parents on what to do if their child is a victim of bullying and explain how, as parents, they can play a vital role in ending cyberbullying.
