Holiday Picture for the Pooch
Hollywood, MD โ Even animals love Santa. Saturday, Dec. 17, for the second year in a row, Santa came to Dang Dirty Dog Pet Spa located at 25741 Three Notch Road in Hollywood. Pet owners came on their precious pooch to have their pictures taken with the man in red.
Dang Dirty Pet Spa is not just a grooming place, they give personalized care and attention to each animal that they come to know and lov
e by name. “As a gift to our customers, we are taking impressions of their animal’s paw to make personalized clay ornaments, said Stacy Abell, owner of Dang Dirty Pet Spa.
Puggs ยฌBella Bear and Sophia Piglet Martoni were ready to jumpย on Santaโs lap to have their picturesย taken. Owner Lisa Martoni said, โI bring them here to the pet spa to have their nails done and saw the flyer for the pictures with Santa online.โ 3-year-old Bella and 12-year-old Sophia are Martoniโs babies she said. She said, โMy children are grownย and have busy schedules and now they are like my kids.โ Martoni said the pictures were resonably priced.
A portion of the proceeds from the event went to benefit Rescue Angels of Southern Maryland. Rescue Angels of Southern Maryland is a 501(c)3 non-profit, grass roots rescue organization founded in 2013 by a group of animal lovers who came together to assist animals in need. To learn more about what they do and the services they offer go to their Facebook page at www.facebookcom/RescueAngelsofSoMD.
TheBayNet.com asked Martoni what she was going to do with the pictures and she responded, โThey will definitely go up on FaceBook, but I am going to also turn them into greeting cards.โ
โAt the Dang Dirty Pet Spa let us take care of your pet,โ said ย Abell. Pets are Abell’s passion and she has loved them her entire life. โThe animals that come here are like family,โ she said.
Abel said she has been in the pet grooming profession for more than 20 years. Abel has owned her pet grooming shop for 3 years. She told TheBayNet.com โThe grooming services we offer include nail trimming, teeth brushing, haircuts, bath, fur cleaning, creative styling, and more.โ
The groomers at Dang Dirty Pet Spa know every animal by name, offer uniqueย services, and go the extra mile for customers, she said. โLast year there was a very good turnout when we offered the pictures with Santa, so we thought we would do it again,โ Abell said.
Jenn Torney is a part-time volunteer and president of Rescue Angels of Southern Maryland and said, โProceeds from this event will go to help animals who may need food, vaccinations, etc.โ Their volunteers include a small community of people who have opened their hearts and unselfishly given their time to improve the quality of life of these animals forgotten by so many, Torney said.
Ziggy is an example of what the Rescue Angels of Southern Maryland are doing to
help save animal lives. โZiggy is one of our rescues who weighed 8 pounds when he came to us and was placed in a loving home. Now look at him, he is 17 pounds,โ Torney said.
Torney told TheBayNet.com, โWe often received calls about animals who need to be fostered and place them with a person who later realizes how much they needed the animal.
Ziggy like many cats was abandoned by previous owners who could no longer care for him. His weight and health had deteriorated due to a lack of tender lover care, his owner said. Ziggyโs owner, Jenni Crager told TheBayNet.com that she has never been happier knowing she saved a life. โTo be honest, when I met Ziggy he chose me not the other way around.โ
