UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Prince George’s County Fair organizers have sadly announced today that the 2024 fair has been canceled due to “insufficient volunteer manpower.”

“This decision has been made in the interest of ensuring a successful event in 2025 by allowing us the necessary time to rebuild our volunteer base,” stated via the fair’s official Facebook page.

A similar situation also caused the cancellation of this year’s Glen Burnie Carnival.

The Prince George’s County Fair is Maryland’s longest-running fair dating way back to 1842. According to the fair’s website, the fair was originally a friendly gathering place for local farmers to showcase their produce and livestock while having a little fun.

Over time, the fair grew to also include competitions such as the best jams, jellies, canned goods, pies, breads, cookies, clothing, quilts, handicrafts, and more.

The fair is already prepping to make a return in 2025. Individuals interested in contributing to the fair are encouraged to contact organizers at princegeorgescountyfair@gmail.com

    1. Umm I’m a white man that grew up here in PG. County! Every county has y’all’s “thugs” that you’re so scared of!! I’m so sick of seeing such ignorant ppl talking about things just to talk $h!t! I’m proud of where I’m from! “Thugs” and all!!

      1. Umm I bet you identify as a white man but probably aren’t. Do you ever leave your house? Are you blind or just a troll that’s not even from the area?

  1. A good thing, no fights , no stabbings, no shootings, no cars being broken into…

  2. Next time maybe try paying people to work instead of having them to volunteer and work for free. All of the money that residents pay in taxes, you should pay them and stop expecting people to work for free. I’m sure everyone in Pg County, is having hard times.

  3. Love PG Co and look forward to going to the fair next year. Maybe the fair organizers should make the need for ” volunteer manpower” more widely known.

  4. the person who wants to be Senator can’t even put on a county fair

  5. The home of Alsobrooks, whose campaign signs state
“They want to ‘CONTROL’ the Senate”.
You’d figure she would first ‘CONTROL’ her constituents.
