On Dec. 12, Deputy State Fire Marshal John Nelson, of the Southern Region, and his K-9 partner “Charlie” graduated from the ATF K-9 Training Division’s six week Accelerant Detection K-9 class.
Deputy Fire Marshal Nelson and K-9 Charlie become the third ATF certified Accelerant Detection team assigned to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office K-9 Detection Unit.
Deputy Nelson and his K-9 partner were quickly utilized and responded to a multi-jurisdictional incident in Frederick County on Dec. 18.
Deputy Nelson and all K-9 teams of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, are available to respond statewide.
