SOUTHERN MARYLAND — Registration is now open for the 2025-26 school year at all five Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland centers. Families can secure spots for after-school programming that includes STEM, arts, homework help, mentorship and recreational activities.
Founded in 1999 as the Calvert County Boys & Girls Club, BGCSM has grown into a regional youth development organization serving children ages 5 to 18. Clubs operate after school from 2 to 6 p.m. daily and host summer camps from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The mission is to inspire and enable all young people — especially those who need support most — to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. With trained staff and mentors, BGCSM offers a safe space for young people to learn, grow and thrive.
BGCSM serves youth in Southern Maryland through its five distinct locations:
Bayside (North Beach) — Runs across the school year with programs spanning daily art projects, physical activities and scheduled programming.
Lexington Park — Provides a positive and safe learning environment, role models and experiences not typically accessible to local youth.
Calvert Elementary — Free after-school program for Calvert Elementary students, focusing on social, academic and physical development through activities like Positive Action and Triple Play.
Indian Head — Offers programs centered on sports, teamwork, leadership and responsibility, including structured recreation.
Malcolm Elementary — Leverages the arts to help young people gain confidence, self-esteem, leadership and creative problem-solving skills.
All sites deliver the “Formula for Impact,” a BGCA framework promoting academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Slots are filling quickly, and families are encouraged to register via the MyClubHub portal at bgcsm.net.

The Boys & Girls Clubs network in Southern Maryland continues to grow, with the newest site in Indian Head opening in March 2025 to expand services for more Charles County youth. Read more about the launch in The BayNet’s article here.
