Police in St. Mary’s County are investigating a head-on collision that injured two motorists Saturday, March 23 on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville.
According to Sgt. Ryan Raley of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, the crash occurred at approximately 5:29 p.m. The vehicles collided in front of Mechanicsville Elementary School.
One motorist was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 7 to Prince George’s Hospital. The other injured motorist was transported by a Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department ambulance to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. One of the vehicles was leaking gas.
Raley stated crews assisted police with the reconstruction.
Police have not released the names of the injured motorists.
