
CALLAWAY, Md. — Emergency crews responded Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, to a serious two-vehicle collision involving entrapment on Point Lookout Road near Camp Cosoma Road.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m., when a rear-end collision left one vehicle off the roadway, trapping an occupant inside. Firefighters quickly worked to extricate the trapped occupant. EMS evaluated multiple occupants at the scene, ultimately transporting two patients to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Maryland State Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision.
Point Lookout Road was shut down to traffic while crews worked to clear the scene, causing delays for morning commuters. Limited traffic flow was restored before the road fully reopened at 9:55 a.m.
