BRYANS ROAD, Md. — Firefighters responded Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2025, to a residential fire in the 2800 block of Chippewa Street in Bryans Road, where a small blaze broke out in a first-floor kitchenette.
The call came in shortly after 10 a.m., prompting a multi-agency response that included engines, trucks, and EMS units from Bryans Road and surrounding stations. Crews arrived to find light smoke showing from the roof of a two-story home and located flames in the ceiling area of the basement beneath the kitchenette.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and a full search of the home confirmed no occupants were inside. No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators ruled the cause of the fire to be an electrical component malfunction. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified, and the Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents.
Units began clearing the scene by 10:45 a.m., with operations overseen by Battalion Chief 8. A safety officer confirmed the incident was brought under control without further complications.
