At 8:49 p.m. Sept. 22, TFC Fleetwood responded to the California Wal-Mart parking lot for a reported theft.

The victim said that while shopping, someone entered his vehicle and stole the Lifesafer Interlock controller.

Interlock controllers are imposed by a judge after a suspect is convicted of DWI and prevent the vehicle from being started unless the operator can pass an in-car breath test for alcohol.

The device will be entered into the National Crime Information Center computer as stolen.
