Southern Maryland Dancer Earns Second Place At Washington Dance Competition

ADELPHI, Md. — Mahi Shah, representing Southern Maryland, placed second in the adult solo category (ages 15+) at Dance Washington Dance 2.0, a competition presented by the Grand Indian Idol team.

The event was held on Oct. 27, 2024, at The Hindu Temple of Metropolitan Washington in Adelphi, where performers from across the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region competed. Mahi’s performance, a four-minute dance routine, earned her the runner-up position among adult soloists.

“Participating in a dance competition is a journey of passion and determination to do the best you can,” Mahi said. “Every step, every beat, and every moment is a victory in itself, and I could not be more grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in Dance Washington 2.0!”

The competition brought together talented dancers who showcased various styles and techniques. Mahi’s achievement highlights her dedication to the art of dance and the growing presence of Southern Maryland performers in the regional dance community.
