LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Southern Maryland resident Brandy Sutor raised $11,400 for the fundraiser “A Message for Hope” in honor of her late husband, Rob Sutor, continuing a cycle of support that once helped her own family during a critical time.

Brandy Sutor, a Southern Maryland native, and her husband, Rob Sutor, were married for 20 years and raised three sons in Hollywood, Md. Their children are Owen, 18; Evan, 16; and Alex, 13. Their oldest son, Owen, is pursuing mechanical engineering at Liberty University on a Dellum Scholarship, following in his father’s professional path. Rob Sutor worked as a Department of Defense aerospace engineer and spent his career supporting missions at the local base. Originally from Poland, he moved to Chicago in 1990 at age 14 before relocating to St. Mary’s County in 2001, where he met Brandy Sutor and made Southern Maryland his home. Rob was well known for being an outgoing and fun father, leaving behind a legacy for his family as a great role model and inspiration for all.

Rob Sutor passed Aug. 24, 2025, after battling cancer. During his treatment at Georgetown University Hospital, A Message for Hope provided crucial assistance to the family by covering three months of mortgage payments, easing financial strain as medical bills mounted. The connection was made through Brandy Sutor’s sister, who contacted fundraiser organizer Natalie Wood.

Following her husband’s passing, Brandy Sutor organized the fundraiser to give back to the organization that supported her family and to increase awareness of its mission. The effort raised a total of $11,000 from local businesses and community members, with overall contributions reaching $11,400. On her most recent Facebook post, she stated:

“Final numbers are in!!!! Y’all, once again The County went above and beyond! We made over $11,400 for A Message of Hope Cancer Fund in memory of my Rob!!! Thank you to all of the trolley riders, businesses, and everyone who donated to the cause! Merry Christmas everyone!”
