At 2:15 am, On Jan. 22, Charles County Sheriff’s Officer D. Almassy observed a vehicle spinning tires in the parking lot of Maurice J. McDonough High School located at 7165 Marshall’s Corner Road in Pomfret.
Officer Almassy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver did not stop. The driver stopped the vehicle at his residence in the 7300 block of Marshall’s Corner Roadand Officer Almassy determined the driver was intoxicated.
The driver was arrested and identified as James Thacher Bartlett, III, 19, of Pomfret. Bartlett was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence, fleeing and eluding and spinning wheels.
He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.
