LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Leonardtown is now home to the largest Splash In tunnel car wash in Maryland — a long-anticipated addition that the community has been excited to see open. After months of anticipation, residents can now enjoy a convenient, high-capacity car wash experience right in the heart of town.
Located at 40874 Merchants Lane, this state-of-the-art facility features a 110-foot-long tunnel capable of washing up to 110 vehicles per hour. Built with Southern Maryland drivers in mind, Splash In includes 20 spacious, free vacuum bays — large enough to accommodate pickups, SUVs and trucks comfortably — making it easy to clean both inside and out. The belt-driven tunnel system also ensures a smooth wash experience for everything from low-profile sports cars to wide dually trucks, reflecting the needs of the local community’s vehicles.
Splash In, built on the former site of Perkins and Happy Seafood House in the Leonardtown Center near Food Lion and Family Dollar, adds a convenient option for locals to swing by while out running around town.
A Sneak Peek Inside
The BayNet attended the Family and Friends Day event before opening day, where staff were on-site doing final run-throughs with real customers. Team members were welcoming, knowledgeable and eager to help — making sure everything ran smoothly. The experience from entry to exit was efficient and spotless.
Forget something? Customers can step inside the on-site retail store, stocked with interior and exterior car care products, fresh microfiber towels, air fresheners and more. It’s the perfect spot to grab any last-minute detailing supplies — or to chat with staff for product recommendations and assistance.
The vacuum area features extra-large outdoor bays, offering plenty of space for unloading muddy cleats or clearing out beach gear after a weekend adventure. The vacuums are powerful, and the mat-cleaning stations are a nice touch. It’s all free with a car wash, which adds a lot of value, especially if you’ve got a family car or work vehicle that sees a lot of miles.
