On Friday, January 25, 2013 the Sheriff’s Office Polar Bear Plunge Team braved the freezing temperature and icy waters of the Chesapeake Bay to participate in the 17th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge for Maryland Special Olympics. Team members included:

This year Maryland Polar Bear Plungers raised approximately 2.8 million dollars for Special Olympics with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center Team contributing approximately $1,000. The team would like to thank those who volunteered their time at the event or pledged donations. We look forward to participating again next year.
