St. Mary's County Welcomes 4 Corrections Officers

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Office welcomed four new corrections officers to the force. The four graduated from CELTP Session 64 of the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy on September 4.

The regional police and corrections training academy that serves the Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Offices.

In addition to the academy training course, the graduates passed stringent physical and psychological tests as well as background tests. The starting salary for corrections officers is $47,174.

Due to COVID restrictions, the ceremony was closed to the public, but St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron was on hand to congratulate the graduates.
