LEONARDTOWN, MD. (April 28, 2011) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department offers free colon cancer screenings to County residents who are uninsured or underinsured. Colon cancer is a leading cause of deaths in the U.S. Screening tests can detect polyps or early stages of cancer when it is easiest to treat, thereby, saving lives.
If you are a resident of St. Mary’s County and over the age of 50, or under the age of 50 with a personal or family history of colon cancer, uninsured or underinsured, or have symptoms of colon cancer, call the St. Mary’s County Health Department at 301-475-4079 for more information about the free screening program.
