Chief Moreland is a Nationally Registered Paramedic with more than three decades of EMS experience, beginning with his first volunteer call in 1990. Throughout his career, he has worked in a wide range of EMS systems, including non-profit, for-profit, hospital-based, and rural services. He has served in many roles along the way, from paramedic to Chief and Executive Director. We are confident that Chief Moreland’s diverse background and leadership experience will be a tremendous asset as the Department of Emergency Services continues to grow and strengthen our EMS system.
Chief Moreland is also deeply committed to the EMS profession beyond his day-to-day role. He currently serves as President of the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, which honors EMS providers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and as Vice President of the Code Green Campaign, an organization focused on mental health and suicide prevention in EMS. He is a Fellow of the American College of Paramedic Executives and holds the Chief EMS Officer (CEMSO) designation. He is also a veteran of both the United States Marine Corps and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Among his many accomplishments, Chief Moreland is most proud of his family, including his wife, Marybeth, and their three children.
Chief Moreland is looking forward to getting to know the providers, partners, and community here in St. Mary’s County. Please help us welcome him to our community!
