Many movie-goers grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy, buying it on VHS to play in their homes to enjoy getting lost in a science fiction world of fantasy. Chewbacca and Han Solo are household names to this day.
In the Tri-county area, theaters such as the new R/C Movie Theater 12 in California, MD have been slammed with lines over the weekend and surely for weeks to come. Online purchasing in advance helps to ensure a seat, but does not mean you wonโt have to wait to file into the theater.
Nationally, many Star Wars enthusiasts dressed up as their favorite character to enjoy the newest installment of the series. Many more watched the movie multiple times already.
As far as the story goes, this phenomenon transcends generations and sparks excitement in much of our culture. Even Hilary Clinton made a reference to it in the last Democratic debate.
If the box office is a telltale sign, another Star Wars movie will be in our near future. In the meantime, may the force be with you.
