WALDORF, Md. – The Office of the State Fire Marshal continues to investigate a townhouse fire that occurred yesterday afternoon on Flagstaff Place near Chalkstone Place.

The incident, which took place on April 23, 2024 at approximately 2:08 p.m., resulted in an estimated loss of $15,500, with $15,000 in structural damage and $500 in contents lost. The fire was discovered by a neighbor, who alerted the occupants of the home.

Upon arrival, crews from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department found the three-story end unit townhouse showing smoke and fire from the rear porch. It took 38 firefighters approximately 15 minutes to control the blaze.

Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of the fire. The smoke alarm was present and activated during the incident.

The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation. The occupants have been displaced by the incident and are currently receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
