On August 20 at 6 p.m., officers responded to Sears at Mall Circle Drive for the report of a theft in progress.
Witnesses reported the suspect, Alphonzo Oligidae Cutler, 23 of Waldorf, removed a pair of tennis shoes from a box and put them on his feet. Then, he concealed a box of tennis shoes under his clothes and fled from the store. Officers located the suspect and, after a lengthy foot chase, subdued him. Officers recovered the stolen goods.
A computer check revealed Cutler had three open warrants. He was charged with theft less than $1000 and obstructing and hindering a police investigation.
