Robert D. Harrodย
Great Mills, MD— On August 18, Maryland State Police Trooper Krenik responded to Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for a reported disturbance.ย
When Krenik arrived on the scene contact was made with the defendantย who was identifiedย as Robert D. Harrod, 29 of Lexington Park, and another individual, who was seated on the curb and was heavily intoxicated.ย
Harrod was standing over her, telling her they needed to leave. Krenik separatedย both partiesย and the victim.ย
The victim advised she has six children in common with Harrod and they
live together in a tent. She advised, “no physical assault had occurred and Krenik did not observe any signs of injury aside from a small abrasion on her (victim) left knee which she (victim) advised was from falling down in an unrelated incident,” according to charging documents.ย
Krenik made contact with Harrod, who advised that he was involved in an argument with victimย due to her intoxication. Harrod advised there was no assault and it was just verbal.
As Krenik continued to ask questions about the incident, Harrod stated that he pushed the victim, but that they were okay now.ย Krenik did not observe any signs of injury to Harrod and he was still in possession of victim’s cell phone.ย
Due to a second 9-1-1 call, Krenik made contact with a witness who advised that the victim gave him the cell phone, and that while they were separated for a short period of time she decided she wanted it back.
He advised the victim answered the door and he put his (Harrod) hand on her (victim)shoulder and lightly pushed or escorted her from the residence. He stated she (victim) did not fall down.
When Krenik told Harrod about the statements of the witness Harrod advised that he could not have come through the front door because it was locked, and that he was let in by the victim.ย
Harrod was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where he was charged with two counts of second-degree assault.ย
Harrod at this time does not have a scheduled court date. Harrod faces a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and/or a maximum fine of $5,000.ย
