NANJEMOY, Md. — A Nanjemoy man has been charged with first-degree assault and related offenses following an alleged altercation on Thanksgiving, according to charging documents.
Brandon Shane Donley, 29, was taken into custody on Nov. 28 after an arrest warrant was issued the previous day. He is charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, and second-degree assault, records show.
The charges stem from an incident reported on Nov. 27 at a residence on Helwig Farm Road in Nanjemoy. According to the statement of charges, the complainant told authorities that an argument escalated into an assault. The complainant also alleged that Donley displayed a firearm during the encounter.
Donley was held for an initial appearance before a district court commissioner on Nov. 28. Court records indicate he was released on an unsecured personal bond set at $10,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. in Charles County District Court.
The case remains active, and all charges are allegations. Donley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
