LA PLATA, Md. — Something udderly fun is happening in La Plata — 99 cows have escaped from Chick-fil-A La Plata, and the community is invited to help round them up.
“99 cows are on the mooooove in our community after the gate was left open at the corral! Please help bring these frightened and lost creatures back to Chick-fil-A La Plata, and receive a reward for your good deed!” Chick-fil-A La Plata shared in a Facebook announcement on July 23.

As part of the restaurant’s “Summer of Cows” promotion, plush cows have been hidden all around Charles County — some have been found in local shops in Newburg, salons in La Plata and even a gym in Indian Head. Each cow includes a tag that reads “U FOWND ME!” and offers instructions for returning it to the restaurant at 107 Drury Drive in La Plata for a special reward.

So far, almost 40 cows have been brought home safely, but as of July 28, more than 60 are still on the loose.
The hunt is open to all ages, and hints are being dropped on Chick-fil-A La Plata’s social media pages @cfalaplata, where the community can follow the herd’s progress.
Be gentle, be alert, and most of all — have fun! Whether you’re grabbing groceries or strolling downtown, you might just stumble across a hidden cow. But don’t wait too long — once all 99 are found, the game is over.
