Elderberry Work Day on the Farm on April 12 (5 pm), located at Chesapeake’s Bounty, 6415 St Leonard Rd, St Leonard, MD – Open Invitation to Root Elderberry Cuttings! Join us in Saint Leonard as we gather (belatedly) to root elderberry cuttings. Delve into all things elderberry and the gratifying process of propagating these wonderful plants. Even though the ideal time for rooting hardwood cuttings has passed, plants can be quite forgiving, making this a worthwhile endeavor for all interested in learning about the world of elderberries.
Yard and Vendor Saleon April 13 (8 am to 1 pm), located at Huntingtown Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, 4030 Old Town Road, Huntingtown, MD – Many Tables of: Yard / Vendor / Small Business / Crafters. Ms, K’s Lunchbox Food Truck will be serving lunch and breakfast. Rita’s Italian Ice for that delicious treat. The 2024 HVFD Corvette Raffle will be setup to purchase tickets.
MAEVE Northern Calvert Community Book Swap on April 13 (12 pm to 2:30 pm), located at Dunkirk District Park, 10750 Southern Maryland Blvd, Dunkirk, MD – Join MAEVE Northern Calvert at the main park pavilion for a Community Book Swap & Share Event! Participants are encouraged to bring gently used books to donate, then browse the selection and take more home to fill their shelves! We welcome books for all ages (no reference materials, please). Bringing books is not required to participate. This event is free and is family friendly! The pavilion is located right next to the playground. MAEVE Northern Calvert is a Maryland chapter of MAEVE (Motherhood. Alliance. Equity. Village. Empowerment.), a non-profit organization that seeks to empower all who mother in support of one another and their communities.

Ms. Story’s Living History April 12 to April 14, located at Port Tobacco Players, 508 Charles St, La Plata, MD – No two performances are alike. Each day, Ms. Story will take audiences on a different journey through time. Meet an eccentric bookstore owner who brings history to life. She tells the stories of people and their relationships, some of which may surprise you. Come meet women from the past, some famous (like Harriet Tubman or Sojourner Truth), others not so much, but all important because they lived. Each night is a new chapter. Come for one, two or all three, you’ll see something different each chapter.

First Landing Wine & Arts Festival on April 13 (10 am to 5 pm), located at St. Clement’s Island Museum, 38370 Point Breeze Rd, Coltons Point, MD – Experience a full day of fun sipping wine along the Potomac at St. Clement’s Island Museum with St. Mary’s County wineries on the First Landing Wine Trail, as well as local artisan and craft vendors, live music, food, kids’ activities, boat rides and more at the annual First Landing Wine & Arts Festival. Event admission is FREE – there are various costs for food, museum admission, water taxi rides or any vendor or wine purchases. Official First Landing Wine Trail glasses will be available for purchase in the museum store, along with other great local items.
American Legion Post 221 Pork Loin and Beef Sandwich Sale on April 13 and April 14 (11 am to 4 pm), located at American Legion Post 221 , 21690 Colton Point Rd (Rt. 242), Avenue, MD – American Legion Post 221 is sponsoring a pork loin and beef sandwich sale. 5th Annual Battle by the Bay Truck & Tractor Pullon April 13 (3 pm to 10 pm), located at St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds, 42455 Fairgrounds Rd, Leonardtown, MD – Join us for a dirt flying rolling smoke filled high horsepower adrenalin packed good time! Dragon Motorsports 1st Truck and Tractor Pull of 2024. 6 classes compete: 7800 Light Pro Stock Tractors, Altered Farm Tractors, 6200 Super Modified 2WD Trucks, 10,500 Hot Farm Tractors, 6200 Sportsman 4×4 Trucks and Semi-Trucks. Gates open at 3pm and pull begins at 5pm. Rain date scheduled for Sunday, April 18th (gates 12pm/pull 2pm).
Reach Back & Lift 1 Cinderella Prince Charming Ball 2024 on April 13 (7 pm), located at The Rex, 22695 Washington St, Leonardtown, MD – The Carolyn E. Parker Foundation and Reach Back & Lift 1 (RB&L1) will host the 2nd Annual Cinderella Prince Charming Ball fundraising event to continue to support Project Cinderella and the Prince Charming Project initiatives. The Carolyn E. Parker Foundation and RB&L1 are focused on one of its most significant community outreach initiatives, Project Cinderella and the Prince Charming Project. In 2013, the Carolyn E. Parker Foundation initiated Project Cinderella and has provided approximately 700 dresses to girls at two local Middle Schools. RB&L1 joined the effort in 2021 by supplying outfits for 27 Middle School boys. Both organizations are committed to meeting the growing need through strategic partnerships with school administrators, nonprofits, and community-focused local businesses. Our goal is to ensure every 8th-grade girl and boy desiring to attend the End of the Year Dance is confidently dressed to enjoy their formal dance experience. Tickets required.
