Science for Community Seminar – UMCES CBL on April 8 (7 to 8 pm), located at UMCES Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, 142 Williams Street, Solomons, MD – Join us as we celebrate a remarkable milestone, the 100th anniversary of CBL, the oldest state supported marine lab on the East Coast and the founding laboratory of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES). Rebels & Redcoats: A Southern Maryland Revolutionary War Family Event on April 5 (10 am to 4 pm), Rebels & Redcoats: A Southern Maryland Revolutionary War Family Event FREE family fun event commemorating the American War for Independence as it happened in St. Mary’s County. This event is being held on land at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum near the site of the Battle of St. George Island, the only Revolutionary War battle to occur in Maryland. Exhibits and displays by other organizations related to our local 18th century history will also be on hand, along with food trucks, educational and period programming, kids and family activities, reenactors, period encampment, military demonstrations and much more. All parking will be FREE off-site at Piney Point Elementary School. FREE shuttles will be provided for transportation to the event. Shuttles will begin running at 9:00 AM and circulate from parking areas to the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum. The last shuttle will leave Piney Point Lighthouse Museum at 4:30 PM. There will be no public parking at the museum except for vehicles displaying appropriate handicap parking permits. Free event.
