CALVERT COUNTY

Food Truck Fridays at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center on February 21 (5 to 7 pm), located at 13470 Dowell Road, Solomons, MD – Grab something yummy and enjoy extended evening hours in the garden!

Cornhole Tournament on February 22 (11 am), located at American Legion SAL Post 274, 11820 H.G. Trueman Road, Lusby, MD – Round Robin (4 rounds) rolls into a double-elimination tournament. Registration at 11 a.m., bags fly at noon. Full bar and food available for purchase. Open to the public.

12th Annual CCPS Science & Engineering Expo on February 22 (11 am to 3 pm), located at Calvert High School, 520 Fox Run Blvd Prince Frederick, MD – The EXPO will highlight CCPS science and engineering programs, as well as local STEM organizations. Exhibits will offer interactive experiences for both children and adults, with the goal of sparking interest in STEM education and careers. Hands-on activities will include computer coding, biomedical experiments, robotics, math games, catapults, and more for families to enjoy. Pop-in with Poppie on February 22 (1:30 pm to 2:30 pm), located at Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Road S, Solomons, MD – Make your Saturday afternoon memorable by coming to visit with our very own Pop Star “Poppie,” our Virginia Opossum. You can join the Poppie paparazzi in the museum lobby with one of our educational interpreters, learn all kinds of fun possum facts, and visit our Museum Store for possum fan gear. Since the welfare of our animals is our primary concern, Poppie’s ability to visit with her adoring public may occasionally be subject to change on short notice. Included with museum admission. 

COSMIC Symphony’s concert titled Song & Dance on February 22 (3 pm to 5 pm), located at Chesapeake Church, 6201 Solomons Island Road, Huntingtown, MD – COSMIC Symphony’s concert titled Song & Dance will feature the vocal talents of their 2024 Young Artist Competition winner, Ellyanna Tyson, and an enchanting classical program including Tchaikovsky’s overture from Romeo & Juliet and several of Brahms’ Hungarian Dances. COSMIC is pleased to present this concert free of charge. Ellyanna Tyson is a 17 year old high school senior, born and raised in Southern Maryland. Elly started her musical journey with the Southern Maryland Youth Orchestra and Choir. She studies voice with Wendy Podsednik and piano with Chiara Selby. During her musical study, she has taken part in choral, duet, and solo concerts throughout Southern Maryland. She has also had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall and the French Embassy. Additionally, Elly has participated in three different two-week long Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard sessions. She has been on stage with Newtowne Players, Port Tobacco Players, Children’s Theatre of SoMD, and L’Opera Comique de Washington. Free event.

Beyond the Displays: Artifact Stories on February 23 (1:30 pm to 2:30 pm), located at Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Road S, Solomons, MD – Discover the history behind the emblem from a paddle wheel boat, the tools found in the blacksmith shop, and the Gov. R. M. McLane name board. Hear captivating stories about WWII’s impact on the Solomons community and uncover hidden pictures within the museum murals. It’s a unique opportunity to delve into local history and see these artifacts in a new light. Included with museum admission.

Little Minnows: Food Chain on February 27 (10:15 am and 11:15 am), located at Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Road S, Solomons, MD – For preschoolers ages 3 – 5, with an adult. This program focuses on one of the museum’s three themes. Join us for story time and a craft, available while supplies last. Sessions are 25-40 minutes. Free with museum admission. Trivia Night on February 26 (6:30 to 8:30 pm), located at CBQ, 4150 Mears Avenue, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Instead of the usual fact-based questions, we’ve surveyed the nation with a series of fun and quirky questions. Your team will compete by trying to guess the most popular answers. It’s a game of wits, laughter, and strategy that levels the playing field and guarantees a good time for all! Whether you have a team of 2 or 6, come join us for an evening of friendly competition and great food! Free admission.

2025 Open All-Media Winter Show taking place February 21 through March 15 (Friday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm), located at Mattawoman Creek Art Center, 5565 Upham Pl, Marbury, MD – Discover local talent, enjoy stunning art, and celebrate creativity in a cozy, festive atmosphere.

Urban Ag Farmer Meet-up hosted by SMADC on February 21 (5 to 7 pm), located at The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC), 15045 Burnt Store Road, Hughesville, MD – Come hang out with fellow urban ag farmers at the SMADC meet-up! Moll Dyer & Local Legends Weekend taking place February 21 through February 23 (12 pm to 6 pm), located at Town of Leonardtown – The Town of Leonardtown, Leonardtown Business Association, Visit St. Mary’s & participating area businesses will host scavenger hunts, cocktail contests, activities, shows, ghost tours and more! The Patuxent Prime- Infinity ITS on February 22 (10 am to 8 pm), located at Swords and Spoons, 22599 MacArthur Blvd, Suite 126, California, MD – Welcome to the first annual Patuxent Prime Infinity ITS event.
