Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs on July 18–20 (various times), located at Long Beach Community Center, 5845 Calvert Blvd, St. Leonard, MD – Experience Neil Simon’s heartfelt coming-of-age comedy set in 1937 Brooklyn. Follow the Jerome family through a week of humorous and emotional challenges during the Great Depression in this semi-autobiographical tale. Tickets required.
Parents Night Out (Kids Night of Fun) on July 18 (5:30 to 9:30 p.m.), located at Tettimers’ Produce Stand at Rolling Acres Farm, 3305 Saint Leonard Road, Port Republic, MD – Parents can enjoy a well-deserved evening off while kids take part in an action-packed adventure on the farm, filled with games and activities. Village Days on July 19 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), located at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, 10515 Mackall Road, St. Leonard, MD – Explore ancient skills like fire-making, pottery, or hunting at this free drop-in program in the Woodland Indian Village. Each month highlights a different topic from Maryland’s Indigenous history. Free admission.
Insectival – Insect Festival! on July 19 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), located at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center, 13470 Dowell Road, Solomons, MD – Dive into a day of buggy fun with hands-on activities, community groups, and creative exploration of the insect world. Families can enjoy interactive exhibits throughout the gardens, galleries, and classrooms while learning about the importance of insects and the wildlife that depend on them. Admission: $8 per person; children under 2 free.
Toy Boat Building on July 19 (1 to 4 p.m.), located at Corbin Nature Pavilion, Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Road South, Solomons, MD – Children ages 5 and up can build a wooden toy boat during this hands-on activity sponsored by the Patuxent Small Craft Guild. Participation is first-come, first-served. Admission: Museum admission applies; $2 donation per boat requested.
Big Bingo Game on July 20 (11 a.m.), located at Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort – The Overlook, 4150 Mears Avenue, Chesapeake Beach, MD – Spend the day playing for cash prizes at this all-day bingo event. Tickets are $40 and available at the door, but advance ticket holders (purchased by July 19 at 11:59 p.m.) will receive a $10 meal voucher for CBQ. Tickets required.
