
UPDATE – 1/16/2025 – Fatal Crash In Mechanicsville: 28-Year-Old Driver Killed, Two Others Injured
MECHANCISVILLE, Md. – A serious two-vehicle T-bone collision on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville left five people injured Wednesday evening, January 15, 2025, prompting a massive emergency response that included three medical evacuation helicopters.
The collision occurred around 6:36 p.m. at the intersection of Old Village Road. Emergency crews arrived to find a chaotic scene: one occupant had been ejected from a vehicle, while others were trapped inside. Firefighters worked quickly to free the trapped individuals before handing them over to EMS.
Three of the five injured occupants sustained life-threatening injuries. One patient was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center by Maryland State Police, Trooper 2. Another patient was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center by Maryland State Police 7, Trooper 2. The third MEDEVAC was canceled. EMS reportedly performed CPR on the third patient who was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Two occupants of the SUV, who suffered minor injuries, declined medical treatment at the scene and later drove themselves to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.
The northbound lanes of Three Notch Road remain closed and partial southbound lanes of Three Notch Road as police investigate the circumstances leading to the crash. Motorists in the area are advised to seek alternate routes, as the closure is expected to persist for several hours.
Light towers requested as investigators continue to examine the scene to determine the cause of the collision.
