CALIFORNIA, Md. – A Maryland woman is facing serious charges following a string of high-profile thefts across multiple Ulta Beauty stores in Maryland and Virginia. Brittnee Nicole Moore, 35, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, has been indicted on charges of second-degree assault and felony theft for her alleged involvement in a March 2022 incident at an Ulta Beauty in St. Maryโs County. Authorities say the incident is just one part of a broader multi-state theft scheme involving luxury fragrances valued at tens of thousands of dollars.
Incident in St. Maryโs County
According to court documents, on March 19, 2022, Moore and two unidentified accomplices entered the Ulta Beauty store at 23415 Three Notch Road, carrying reusable shopping bags. Surveillance footage shows the group targeting high-end fragrances, including brands such as Gucci, YSL, and Burberry, before hastily exiting the store with approximately $7,045 worth of stolen goods.
The store manager confronted Moore during the theft, at which point Moore allegedly threatened, “Get out of my way or Iโm going to spray you.” Although the manager could not confirm what Moore was holding, it was believed to be a perfume bottle.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Moore and her accomplices flee in a silver BMW sedan with Maryland temporary tags. Investigators later identified the vehicle and connected it to Moore.
Expanding the Investigation
The St. Maryโs County theft was not an isolated incident. Investigators found connections between Moore and similar thefts in Fairfax County, Virginia, and Stafford County, Virginia. In one case, Moore and her accomplices allegedly used the same vehicle and multi-colored reusable bags to steal $9,000 worth of luxury fragrances.
Additional evidence emerged from a February 2022 shoplifting spree in Anne Arundel County. Security footage from two Ulta Beauty locations in Gambrills and Annapolis captured suspects matching Mooreโs description stealing fragrances valued at $11,955 and $5,300, respectively. Investigators traced a rented Chevrolet Equinox used in those incidents back to Moore.
Key Evidence from Mobile Records
Search warrants for Mooreโs phone records revealed her phoneโs proximity to the crime scenes at the time of the thefts. The records linked her to multiple incidents across jurisdictions, solidifying her role in the theft scheme.
Detective reports noted that Mooreโs physical description, as captured in surveillance footage, matched the DMV photo tied to her rented vehicles and phone number.
Legal Consequences
Moore faces multiple charges, including second-degree assault, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and felony theft of items valued between $1,500 and $25,000, which carries a potential sentence of five years. She has also been implicated in theft schemes exceeding $25,000 across state lines, indicating a potential federal dimension to the case.
Court History and Current Status
Court records show a bench warrant was issued for Moore in June 2023 after she failed to appear for a hearing. The warrant was served on November 12, 2024, and she was denied bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 3, 2025, in St. Maryโs County Circuit Court.
For now, Moore remains in custody, awaiting trial for her alleged role as evidenced by surveillance footage and investigative reports, which link the incidents to thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.
