Lexington Park, MD ย – A mid-afternoon fire that damaged a mobile home in St. Maryโ€™s County was deliberately set, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze occurred Monday, Nov. 9 at a one-story, single-family trailer on Oregon Way in Lexington Park. The fire was reported around 2:45 p.m.

โ€œA juvenile family member returned home to find that their trailer had been broken into and was full of smoke,โ€ stated Dfm. Don Brenneman. โ€œA neighbor assisted in extinguishing the small fire and called the 911 center. The initial investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally set after unknown person or persons broke into the trailer.โ€

Four firefighters from Bay District Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze. The fire originated in the kitchen. Damage to the home is estimated at $2,500. Brenneman and Dfm. Zack Dell conducted the investigation, which is continuing. No arrests have been made. The St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office is assisting with the investigation.

According to the fire marshalโ€™s report, the mobile home is owned by Tiffany R. Wheeler.
