HOLLYWOOD, Md. — A truck slammed into a utility pole Monday afternoon on Sotterley Road near Snellman’s Store, injuring one person and knocking down wires.

The crash was reported just before 4:00 p.m. Sept. 8, 2025. First responders arrived to find the pole split and lines stretched across the roadway. Firefighters secured the scene as EMS treated the driver, who was taken to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area while crews worked to replace the pole.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

  1. Gotta pay extra attention when driving. Those utility poles will jump out into your travel lane when you least expect it…then jump back before emergency services gets there.
