WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has launched the Rural Health Transformation Program that will invest $50 billion over five years to boost health care access, infrastructure, workforce capacity and care delivery in rural areas.
The program, established through legislation signed in 2025 and administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), will distribute $10 billion annually from 2026 through 2030 to all states. Each state is guaranteed baseline funding, with additional award amounts allocated based on rural need, population and proposed health strategies.
The funds can support modernizing clinics and hospitals, bolstering telehealth and digital tools, addressing workforce shortages, improving care coordination and enabling preventive and specialty services in underserved communities.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. described it as a major federal investment aimed at expanding access to care close to home for an estimated 60 million rural Americans, who often face limited services, stretched resources and hospital closures.
States have already begun receiving their first awards: Nevada received nearly $180 million toward its rural health system plans, and other states like Texas and Minnesota are securing similar funding as part of the initial rollout.
As the program’s planning and implementation continue throughout 2026, rural health stakeholders and policy analysts will be watching how funds are used and whether the investments lead to measurable improvements in health care access and quality across America’s rural regions.

Keep in mind, the convicted felon is not helping blue states, has the Proud Boys running around as ICE agents and has destroyed our economy. He has caused health care premiums to skyrocket and destroyed the People’s House. All while spending millions to golf and stay at that hideous hideout in Florida.
It is irresponsible to talk about this without also pointing out that the BBB is estimated to cut over $500 billion over the next 10 years from Medicare which will disproportionately impact rural hospitals. This like stealing $100 from someone and giving them $10 back and expecting them to be happy they are $10 richer.
