Cory M. McAndrewย
Leonardtown, MD— On July 4, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Trudell responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown about an assault.
When Trudell arrived on the scene contact was made with Sgt. Molitor of the St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, who advised two inmates were observed fighting in the day room.
Molitor also advised, “the inmates were in the day room watching television when an argument started over the program choice,” according to charging documents.
Molitor continued to show Trudell a video recording of the incident. The video showed the victim and the defendant in an apparent argument about the television remote. The defendant was identified as Cory M. McAndrew, 25 of Lusby.
During the argument, the victim seemed to get upset and agitated. However, McAndrew was seen running towards the victim and appears to tackle the victim.
The victim sustained noticeable injuries to the right hand, right shoulder, and left elbow.
McAndrew was arrested and charged with second-degree assault on an inmate. At this time McAndrew does not have a scheduled court date.
McAndrew faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
