North Beach, MD – The race is on in the Town of North Beach, with one dozen individuals seeking one of six spots on the municipalityโ€™s council. North Beach Town Staff provided a list of candidates who filed before the Aug. 25 deadline.

The two candidates for mayorโ€”incumbent Mark Frazer and current Town Councilman Gregory Dotsonโ€”along with the council candidates, are seeking four-year terms.

The council race includes five incumbentsโ€”five-term member Randy Hummel, two-term incumbent Gwen Schiada, and first-term members Kenneth Wilcox, Mike Benton and Greg McNeil. Those also running are Benjamin Hummel, Joshua Brown, Anthony Klemens, Kathy Bacon, Diane Burr, Thomas Crockett and Julius Lubbes.

Frazer is seeking his fourth term as mayor. He was first elected in 1998 and re-elected in 2002. In 2006 Frazer opted to run for Calvert County commissioner but was defeated. In 2010 he ran for mayor and won a three-way race, facing then-incumbent mayor Mike Bojokles and then-incumbent councilwoman Lynda Streigel.

Dotson is currently serving his second term on the town council.

The North Beach Town Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4. At this time no official plans for a candidatesโ€™ forum have been announced.
